I've lost or had my student card stolen, what should I do?
Come to the Student Information Point on the ground floor of the Geoffrey Manton Building and we'll print another one for you.

Lost: there is a nominal charge of £5 for replacement cards.

Stolen: You must present the crime reference number to obtain a free replacement.
Where can I get a council tax exemption form?
If you pop into the Student Information Point on the ground floor of the Geoffrey Manton Building we'll happily print one off for you. Please ensure you bring your Student ID card with you.

Exams

A unit is showing on my examination timetable which I am not taking. What should I do?
You must inform your programme team immediately.
Programme Teams can be contacted via the Student Information Point in Geoffrey Manton building.
Can I bring a calculator into an examination?
Calculators, computers or any other device capable of alphanumeric storage are prohibited from examinations except where the examination rubric specifically permits them.
Can I bring a dictionary into an examination?
Dictionaries shall not be permitted in examinations for the purpose of comprehending the English language, except where the examination rubric specifically permits them.
Can I bring my mobile phone into the examination?
No. Mobile phones or other communication devices must be switched off and you are expressly prohibited from accessing or using it in any way during the examination.
I have a Personal Learning Plan. How do I know the examination arrangements have been put in place?
Any alternative examination arrangements set out within your Personal Learning Plan (PLP) will appear on the bottom of your timetable. If this information is incorrect or missing please contact the Assistant Student Services Officer (Exams), via the Student Information Point, as soon as possible.

One of my units is missing on my examination timetable. What should I do?
You must inform your programme team immediately.

What am I allowed to bring into the examination?
You are prohibited from using any stationery other than that issued specifically for the purpose of the examination or which you have been instructed to bring with you. (Stationery is defined for the purpose of this regulation as writing paper, blotting paper, note pads etc, and does not refer to pens, pencils and other writing implements.) Rough working or notes made during the examination must be made on official examination stationery.

Any cases, bags, books or any other personal belongings not permitted in the examination, should be placed in an area specified by the invigilator and shall not be accessed during the examination.
What happens if I am unable to attend an examination?
If you are unable to take an examination because of illness or other unforeseen circumstances you should inform your programme leader immediately. You will need to complete a exceptional factors form along with suitable documentary evidence eg a medical certificate. Exceptional Factors forms can be found at the Student Information Point in Geoffrey Manton building.
What happens if I finish my examination early?
You may not leave the examination venue during the first 30 minutes or the last 30 minutes of the examination. You can leave at any other time provided you have permission of the Invigilator.
What ID do I need to bring to my examinations?
You must bring your MMU Student ID card with you which should be displayed on your examination desk to be checked by the Invigilator. Alternative forms of Photo Id may also be used.
What should I do if I am late?
Please do not be late as this is disruptive to yourself and other candidates.

If you are late due to unforeseen circumstances you will be allowed entry into the examination venue any time during the first 30 minutes of the examination. Compensatory time at the end of the examination will not be granted for late arrival.

If you arrive at the examination venue after the first 30 minutes of the examination you will not be allowed entry.
What should I do if I want to book a holiday/have a commitment during the examination period?
As per University Regulations, you are required to make yourself available to sit your examinations for the entire examination period(s), including Saturdays.
Holidays or other social commitments will not be accepted as a reason for missing an examination.

What should I do if I’m feeling unwell or need a toilet break during an examination?
Please inform an invigilator who will follow the necessary procedures.

When can I enter the examination venue?
You will be admitted into the examination venue at least 10 minutes prior to the starting time.
Where are the examination venues?
Examinations for the All Saints South Campus may take place in either Geoffrey Manton, Mable Tylecote, Sandra Burslem, Kings House or Sugden Sports Hall. For directions please go to www.hlss.mmu.ac.uk/examtimetables

Where can I find my examination timetable?
Personal Examination Timetables can be found at www.hlss.mmu.ac.uk/examtimetables. Although we make every effort to avoid changing the timetable, it is still subject to change. You are therefore advised to check your timetable at regular intervals until the start of each examination.
