Guidance Notes for students with a Personal Learning Plan

Students who have been issued with a Personal Learning Plan (PLP) will see their alternative exam arrangements on their personal exam timetables.

If any of the following occur, please contact the Assistant Student Services Officer (Exams), via the Student Information Point, as soon as possible

  • You have been issued with a PLP but there is no reference to your alternative exam arrangements on your personal exam timetable;
  • Your alternative exam arrangements are incorrect as referenced on your personal exam timetable;
  • You no longer require the alternative exam arrangements as referenced on your personal exam timetable

Students who are provided with the use of a scribe (as detailed on your personal exam timetable) during examinations should familiarise themselves with the Guidelines For Students Using Scribes (PDF) which can be found on the Learner Development web page (link below)

Students using computers during examinations should be aware that all University computers have been equipped with Microsoft Office 2010. You should therefore familiarise yourself with this software before attending the examinations. Please note that no alternative software can be provided unless it is specifically recommended in your PLP.

For more information regarding PLP’s please visit the Learner Development Service website at
