What will I be studying?

This new MA is designed for students who wish to advance their knowledge and interests in contemporary European film and literature.The programme usually involves the following units: style and ideology in contemporary French cinema; trends in contemporary Spanish cinema; Italian cinema, a social perspective; European perspectives on Latin America; contemporary European crime fiction; Cervantes and the novel; and research methods.The research methods module will equip you to undertake academic research and prepare you for submitting the MA dissertation.There is also an optional unit entitled film pedagogy: using European film in the classroom, which is designed to support teachers who are now widely using film as part of the curriculum. This module appreciates the pedagogical issues involved in teaching film and offers practical advice on the application of critical analysis.
