Responsibilities

I co-ordinate commercial English courses, including short courses and closed-group scholarships. The latter can involve preparation for the IELTS exam, followed by “Pre-sessional” study prior to degree entry.

My teaching commitments also include in-sessional English for non-native speaking undergraduates, English Language support and Academic English for International Foundation Year students.

I have experience in teacher training and I deliver CPD sessions for visiting groups of schoolteachers from China. I also contribute to the “TESOL 2” undergraduate module in Teaching English. 

I am involved in working with international partnerships and visited Thai Nguyen University, Vietnam, in spring 2012. 

Background

I have worked in English Language Teaching since the mid-1990s, teaching in various contexts in the UK and Europe, including Further and Higher Education. My ELT qualifications include the Cambridge DELTA and an M.Ed in TESOL (University of Manchester).

I originally trained in Modern Foreign Languages, holding a BA (Hons) in French and German (University of Oxford) and Qualified Teacher Status (secondary school level).
