Background

Professional biography

After a Masters Degree in English Studies from the University Sorbonne Nouvelle ( Paris), specialising in Renaissance drama and gender studies, I moved to the University of Manchester where I obtained a PhD in French Studies in 2011 and  worked as a Graduate Teaching Fellow from 2007 to 2010. My thesis entitled ‘ Women as threat in French and English drama 1553-1610’ is a comparative analysis of the representation of women from a feminist perspective in a selection of French and English plays of the 16th and 17th century. More generally, I have methodological interests in a range of theoretical approaches to texts and cultures, notably feminist philosophy, postcolonial theory, often with a comparative dimension. I have worked in various UK universities, such as the universities of Bath and Manchester before joining the University of Manchester Metropolitan in 2011 as a lecturer in French studies.
