Fiona Long

EFL Course Coordinator

Responsibilities

I co-ordinate the Pre-sessional English course, a commercial course that prepares students to enter university by teaching academic and general English as well as study skills.

I am also responsible for co-ordinating the EFL provision of incoming Erasmus students and am the personal  tutor for these students.

I teach on a range of English courses for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), including our IELTS exam preparation course, in-sessional English for Academic Purposes (EAP) courses and undergraduate English provision for non-native students. I lecture in Life in Modern Britain on a weekly basis and give lectures on cultural topics to visiting groups. I have provided CPD and teacher training to cohorts of Chinese teachers.

Background

I have worked in English Language Teaching for over ten years and have a Cambridge CELTA qualification. I am currently completing my MA in Teaching English as a Foreign Language. My research interests include intercultural communication and course design. I have a BA (Hons) in Modern Languages (French and Italian).
