We have TWO Professional Preparation Masters  Studentships for study in the Department of Information and Communications at MMU beginning 2012.

All MA Library and Information Management/ MSc Information Management students who have an offer of a place may be considered for a studentship.  We interview prospective applicants during the Spring term 2012 and all candidates are invited to one of our Visit Days in the Spring term on successful application on our masters degrees.

The Jean Rich  Scholarship 2012-13

All UK applications for the MA received before the end of May  in the academic year preceding entry may apply to be considered for an annual Jean Rich Scholarship.

This scholarship was established in 1995 in honor of Jean Rich, a former student in the Department, and is funded by the Jean Rich Foundation of Montreal, Canada to support one student on the MA in Library and Information Management. The Scholarship has a value of 6,000 Canadian dollars per annum, (approximately £2,500-£3,000 depending on the exchange rate) and is tenable for one year.

The Scholarship is intended to be awarded to an applicant of academic merit who has commitment to complete the programme of study and who is in great need of financial support. In particular the successful candidate should be able to demonstrate a (past or potential) social contribution to the community.

Successful applicants on the MA wishing to apply for the Jean Rich Scholarship should write to  Dr Frances Johnson (Postgraduate Admissions Tutor in Information and Communications) Room 439 Geoffrey Manton Building, f.johnson@mmu.ac.uk.with a supporting statement detailing why they wish to study on the MA in Library and Information Management and why they wish to apply for the Scholarship.
