Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning

The Department of Information and Communications has an international reputation for excellence in teaching and research. We offer a choice of routes for undergraduate study including Information Management, Information and Communications, Librarianship, Digital Media and Communications and Web Development. There are Masters courses in Information Management, Library and Information Management and Informatics. We also offer doctoral research opportunities.

The research in the Department is conducted through CERLIM: the Centre for Research in Libraries, Information and Media. CERLIM is an important constituent of the Institute for Humanities and Social Science Research. In the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise, over 65% of our research was graded as of international quality. Our main research themes are Access to Electronic Information, Information Management and Social Informatics.

The Department is also home to the Information Literact Learning Area of the Learn Higher Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CeTL).
