What will I be studying?

This programme aims to provide you with the opportunity of tailoring your studies to fit your interests; the MA in History is not focussed on a single specific period or theme, allowing maximum flexibility. The two core aspects of the course are:

Research and Methodology: a variety of topics essential to the study of history at a higher level, including themes such as research methods devoted to the use of film, literature and history, historiography, multi-discipline methods and theories, palaeography for medievalists and early modernists, oral history, researching in archives, postmodernism and compiling a bibiography

Dissertation.

In addition you will also choose two options from a range of specialist modules, the themes of which may include:

The Atlantic World;

Youth in the North West 1870's-1970's

Viewing the world differently: Working with Archive Film

Modern Jewish history in Europe;

British political history;

Medieval Italy;

The Elizabethans;

These options seek to draw on research strengths within the department. Please note that units may change subject to availability.

UK and EU students part-time £445 per 20 credit unit. A Masters qualification typically comprises 180 credits. 

Non-EU overseas students £12,500
