The Department is home to the popular undergraduate course – BA (Hons) History. The Department also contributes units to the degrees in economics and the University Combined Honours Programme.
The Department participates in allowing specialisation in History, Economic History and History of the Manchester Region. There are also good opportunities for postgraduate research within the Department.
The Department is located in the Geoffrey Manton Building which has state-of-the-art teaching, lecturing and computing facilities and is within easy reach of the University’s main All Saints library. Teaching methods emphasise working individually as well in groups and are designed to develop a wide range of personal and transferable skills. Training is provided in the use of information technology and audio-visual sources are used widely as teaching aids.
