Postcolonial literatures, with a particular interest in Black British and African-Caribbean fiction and poetry. Creative writing fiction at BA and MA level. Children’s fiction.

Brief professional biography

I have taught in higher education for the past eleven years. Since 1990, I have written five novels for children, and one for adults.

Publications

Publications of fiction include: Adult fiction - The Fat Lady Sings (The Women’s Press 2000); Children’s Fiction - Benjy’s Ghost (Walker Books, March 2004); Playing It Cool (Penguin 1997); A Daughter Like Me (Penguin 1996); Fat Chance (Penguin 1994) and Soul Daddy (Harper Collins 1990). I have also published a short story for children:‘Sunday Father’ in Vivian French: Paying For It (Walker 2002)
