To be kept informed about developments and opportunities, sign up for the MCBF mailing list here.

Included in the Programme is the ‘Survive and Subvert’ conference (available as either a one or two day package)
The ‘Survive and Subvert’ CPD conference launches the 2012 Manchester Children’s Book Festival. In a comprehensive programme co-ordinated by Mandy Coe, guest speakers include Michael Rosen, Mick Waters and Levi Tafari. A suite of practical, critical and creative workshops and debates will focus on maintaining passion and creativity in teaching in the face of cuts to Arts and Education funding. All participants will leave armed with a ‘Survival Kit’ containing resources and ideas that will ensure impact and legacy long beyond the conference.
Suitable for anyone involved with or interested in teaching children and young people of all ages, further details can be found here.
The full programme will be available shortly and will be distributed to senior staff in schools, posted on the MCBF website and emailed to everyone on our mailing list. Flag up the dates now, though, talk to your managers about booking the time out, and book your places to ensure you don’t miss out. Click here for the festival blog.

Tue 3rd July 2012 Humanities AS Level Day

The event is free of charge and is aimed at year 12 students who have completed their AS exams and have started to think about what they may want to study at university. We are offering an exciting programme of taster lectures and workshops in various Humanities subjects, so your students can sample these and get an idea of what university study would be like. There will also be a very useful ‘How to fill in your UCAS form’ workshop with practical tips on what Admissions tutors look for when making decisions about applications. In addition, your students will have a chance to meet current MMU students and ask them questions about what it is like to study Humanities at university.
Attached you will find a booking form with a list of all the sample lectures on offer. Students can attend two of these during the day, which you must pre-book.
Places are limited and will be offered on a first come first served basis. For further enquiries or to book your places please complete and return the booking form by no later than Friday 15th June 2012.
